INSTRUCTORS

Benjamin Pincus
Benjamin Pincus Sensei is the Chief Instructor and Executive Director of Aikido of Champlain Valley. Vermont’s senior and only fully certified Aikido instructor, he began his practice when he was 12 years old thirty years ago. Married with two sons, ages 5 and 10 months, he enjoys teaching youth and playing with his own children because “children remind me how Aikido is a balance of intensity and levity, gravity and playfulness.”

Pincus Sensei also studied mediation and conflict management at Woodbury College, and has dedicated his practice to discovering how Aikido teaches children and adults alike how to become more peaceful, integrated beings.

Camp Director Jamie Nicks
Jamie started training at Aikido of Champlain Valley in 2004 and became uchi-deshi, an intensive live-in student, in 2006. She is now Head Instructor of the Samurai Youth Program and the University of Vermont Aikido Club teacher. She currently holds the rank of Shodan, first degree black belt. Jamie also has a B.S. in Mathematics from UVM and is currently pursuing her Master's in Education. Jamie is also a mathematics tutor.

"I like working with kids because they have so much energy and potential. I enjoy the challenge and thinking on my feet."
